The New York City Football Club (NYCFC) kicked off its Debut at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx with a multi-platform media campaign planned and executed by GMLV. The latest MLS franchise and first in New York, drew a “sellout crowd” of 43,507 on Opening Day as parents, kids and soccer fans of all ages filled the storied Stadium. David Villa, NYCFC’s Captain and Player of the Week put on a clinic as he showed off his talents, displayed his prowess and wowed the crowd by showing them how to “Bend it in the Bronx”. NYCFC won their Historic Home Opener against the New England Revolution and David Villa had 1 goal and 1 Assist on his way to earning the Title of MVP for the Match.
The media effort that helped produce the sellout utilized multiple media platforms like digital, print, Outdoor, and Radio and began in earnest a month before the Opening Kick.
